It's almost that time of year when millions of Americans tune in for the Super Bowl, with millions of fans hosting super bowl parties. The 3rd of February is by far the biggest sporting event in the American sporting calendar. It's due to the huge popularity ad's aired in the commercial breaks are $5 million for a 30-second slot!
But money can't by you love, and certainly not the love of CBS, the channel airing the major sporting event. This is something Acreage Holdings an investment company with an established footprint in the cannabis industry found out when their ad and money was turned down.
The ad focuses on three people whose lives have been dramatically improved by medical cannabis treatment.
According to Acreage President George Allen, the ad would have advocated medical marijuana’s potential to alleviate pain and would not have promoted Acreage products.
“We’re disappointed by the news but somewhat unsurprised,” Allen told CNN Business.
“Still, we developed the ad in the spirit of a public service announcement. We feel it’s our responsibility to advocate on behalf of our patients.”
It's unfortunate that CBS decided to decline the ad and somewhat ironic when you take into consideration that NHL players have been some of the biggest advocates of CBD and medical marijuana, a topic which we covered in an earlier article which can be found here.
